Aftercare

AFTERCARE OF YOUR TATTOO

Congratulations, you have just received a new tattoo from Mountain Coast Ink. In

order for your new tattoo to heal in the best possible manner, we recommend you

follow ONLY these instructions:

1. Leave the bandage alone until you are home, the protective layer of skin has

been removed and it is an open wound.

2. After 2-3 hours, wash your hands thoroughly, remove the bandage gently,

and wash with warm water, and non-fragrance antibacterial soap.

Do not rebandage afterward.

3. Apply a thin layer of Aquaphor, Bactrim, or Tattoo Lovers Care Salve 3

times a day for the next 3 days. Do not use more than a slight film or your

skin will not be able to breathe and heal properly. After 3 days change to a

non-scented lotion like Lubriderm or Eucerin until the skin returns to its pre-

tattoo condition.

4. Stay out of sunlight and tanning booths until the tattoo is healed, at least 7-

10 days. If you do have to go in the sunlight try to keep it covered, or use a

sunscreen to protect it with at least SPF25. Extreme sun and exposure over

the years can and will fade your tattoo.

5. Do not soak the tattoo in a tub, sauna, jacuzzi, or go swimming while your

tattoo is healing (7-10 days). Showers are fine.

Saniderm Instructions

1. Leave on your first Saniderm bandage for 8-24 hours, depending on the amount of weepage under the bandage. Wash your hands. Remove the Saniderm by pulling, not peeling. If the Saniderm is difficult to remove, you may apply olive oil or coconut oil to the skin to help lift the adhesive or soak the skin in water for several minutes. Wash your tattoo with an antibacterial, non-scented soap until your skin feels like fresh skin. Continue to wash around the tattoo to remove any adhesive left behind by the Saniderm. Let your skin dry for 10 minutes and apply the second Saniderm bandage.

2. Wear the second Saniderm bandage for 3-5 days, again, pending weepage.

3. If at any point the seal around the Saniderm is broken and the tattooed skin is open to the air, remove the Saniderm. Do not attempt to use tape or any other adhesive to keep the Saniderm on for longer. Feel free to contact your artist if you must remove your Saniderm before the reccomended time.

4. If you experience red, welted skin around or under the Saniderm, you may be experiencing a mild reaction to the adhesive. If you notice this, remove the Saniderm and continue with traditional aftercare instructions on the front page based on how far along in the healing process you are.

5. While wearing Saniderm, continue to avoid soaking in water (pools, oceans, hot tubs, ect.), long, hot showers, and exercie that enduces a lot of sweating. These things will weaken the adhesive on the Saniderm.
